As part of the circular economy, Black Bear's business model focuses on reusing resources. Carbon black is traditionally produced from crude oil, and used in the production of tires. Used tires are then burned releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Black Bear developed a technology based on the principles of carbonisation to up-cycle carbon black: carbon black from shredded rubber tires is retrieved and reused. Black Bear produces very high quality carbon black grades that compete with virgin material. This has been validated by leading customers in the tire, rubber and paint industry. Black Bear reduces the environmental impact made by fossil resources and waste streams.
