Innovation image

In food production, firms and consumers are faced with challenges of food safety. The Pasteur Smart Sensor Tag is used in transportation to record data about food quality. It records geographical origin, handling, storage and transportation data in terms of temperature and air conditions to accurately predict remaining product shelf life. The sensor was developed by i.a. NXP Semiconductors and Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research and based on one of NXP Semiconductors' earlier sensor tag designs. Based on sensor tag data and models for various food types, predictions can be made about food quality and remaining shelf life.
